Many folks don't like purchasing their car. A CNN poll tells us that 75% of those contacted would rather visit a dentist than have to visit an automobile dealership. It's not that people don't want a car. However, there are a multitude of problems to negotiate and not everyone can be sure of the right steps to take. Here are a few points to keep in mind to simplify the method.

1. Ask questions, lots of questions. Asl intelligent questions which are likely to help you make sensible decisions. Avoid any inclination to not ask and only stop when all your concerns have been properly addressed.

2. Never de driven by your emotions. Fancy machines with flashy trimmings may push you into seeing what is not there. Nine times out of ten you pay more in the end than is necessary when emotion decides your purchasing habit. Be impartial and see the car for what it is and not what you may have fallen in love with.

3. Have a clear picture of exactly what you wish for prior to stepping into the showroom. An open mind can be easily manipulated, and usually not in your favor. Use brochures, etc, beforehand to determine exactly what you want within your budget, but do not let clever talking sway your better judgement.

4. Let the price and not the payments be the subject of your talk with the dealer. The mention of "easy" payments by a salesman could be avoiding the issue of overall price, and this is one thing that you need to know. All necessary homework should be done and you will know exactly what price is the finest fit for a pay up plan to match whatever you find affordable. But if your thoughts are only on a payment plan, more than you want to pay might be what you do pay.

5. Be aware of the exact time to make your decision. You may decide to not go ahead, alternatively, you may wish to see the deal to its conclusion. An ongoing awareness is necessary of how your feelings are concerning the deal before you. Should it seem OK, then stay with it and see it through. However, should you feel an inkling of any single thing askew, drop everything like a ton of hot coals.

Acquiring a car can somethimes be fraught with difficulties. It is an act that for the majority of us is something rarely done and we all want to make the best use of our money. But a meticulous eye for detail in the plan, and keeping the five points above in mind, you could end up with a spot on car that is right for you with a price that you approve of.
