3. Have a clear knowledge of what it is you want in advance of walking into the dealership rooms. An open mind can be easily manipulated, and usually not in your favor. Before going to the dealership, look out whatever info you can get your hands on to specify the details you seek within your budget, but do not let clever talking sway your better judgement.

4. Talk to the dealer about the price, not payments. The mention of "easy" payments by a salesman may be trying to avoid any mention of price, and you should quickly determine why. Be prepared to do your "sums" and you will know exactly what price fits into a payment plan to fit your budget. However, focussing on just payment, more than you want to pay might be what you do pay.

5. Be aware of the exact time to make your decision. You might choose not to go through with the deal, or perhaps you might wish to conclude your dealings. You should constantly monitor the way you are feeling around the suggestion that is made to you by the salesman. Assuming that you are comfortable with your feelings, feel free to go right ahead and close. If your suspicions are raised of any single thing askew, don't hesitate to stop.

Acquiring a car can somethimes be fraught with difficulties. It's not something most of us do very often and of course all of us have hopes that our money will be spent in the best possible way.
